Grants allocated by Town Council
Members of Warminster Town Council’s Finance & Assets Committee meeting on Monday 2nd July considered grant applications made by a wide representation of the local community, including: financial help towards the cost of purchasing a starting system that could be used by deaf members of the Warminster Swimming Club; the purchase of equipment for the junior members of Wessex Blades fencing club; and grants to Warminster Youth Centre, Highbury Youth Girls and The Minster Musical Monsters. Councillor Pip Ridout said “the Town Council is delighted to be able to support these organisations that give so much to the youth in the town”. Various arts and charitable organisations also benefited, such as Warminster Festival, the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal British Legion. A grant was also awarded to the Warminster and Westbury Talking Newspaper who provide a much needed service for the blind, and who are planning to change their recording equipment from analogue to digital.
Recipients will be invited to accept their grant cheque at an awards evening likely to be held in September.
Town Council grants are now issued on an annual basis and are considered at the Finance & Assets Committee meeting in June/July. Application forms can be obtained from the Town Council office at Dewey House, and must be submitted by the closing date of 31st May.
